SE developers unfortunately dont care enough to fix there laggy game, which uses Havok and V-rage. I'd never heard of space engine until seeing this thread, so I'm glad the question was asked, but based on my limited time playing with se, these are two very different "games" and a "versus" question isn't really appropriate. I also have both and to be honest would say to anyone get both hell Space Engine is free so no excuse to not get it! They do slighty different things but it's great to have both on your machine. It'd be awesome if you could edit the text to make it more clear.
